Ponderings on life and travel….

By March 19, 2019No Comments

So, I’m feeling a bit introspective this morning and thought I would share a few of my musings with you. This usually occurs when big life events happen: life, death, priorities, what you’re doing with your life — that sort of thing. We all have to deal with the issues at one time or another. You just can’t avoid it.

I’ll start with priorities. A recent friend confided in a struggle between going out and traveling now versus saving for the future. After all, we all need to think about now, but having a long vision toward the future also holds many benefits. Whether it is about life goals, money, or relationships, having some kind of plan is often useful. How do you balance the urgency of now with the needs for tomorrow? I don’t think there is one correct answer here. It depends on you giving this some serious thought and deciding what is important to you. I’ve had some major life changes recently and I got into this travel gig because there is much more to life than sitting in an office and doing the same thing year after year after year. I thrive on new experiences — I realized this once I summoned up the courage to break my own internal boundaries and inhibitions to begin taking risks. Those risk have led to much change in my life for the better — a new home, a new love, a new life — and it invigorates me in a way I never knew possible a few short years ago.

That’s the thing. You often don’t know how some new event, activity, or experience is going to affect you. Change you. Alter your views.

So, I would suggest that you sit down and just ponder your priorities. What is holding you back from making a change? What can you do to get what you really want out of life? As so many people say, and it is so true, life is too short to not do what you really want to do. Whether you’re 21 years old or 71 years old, it’s never too late to give it a go.

Oh, and nobody said it was going to be easy, either. That means you really need to give it some serious thought. Understand yourself. Then you might be ready for a new tomorrow….
