A Tropical Oasis in the South Pacific

Deep in the South Pacific complete with gently lapping lagoons and year-round warm weather, the Cook Islands offer untouched charm and beauty. Two coral reefs and six atolls, or giant circular reefs, bring throngs of colorful tropical fish to the area. With white sand and crystal-clear water, this haven offers exhilarating underwater exploration.

Ninety percent of modern Cook Islanders are of native Polynesian descent. Their traditions, history, and culture remain vibrant and reverberate through the islands. In this environmentally conscious country, no building is taller than a coconut tree and you won’t find a fast-food restaurant. You will find fresh, local ingredients in the many markets and eateries on this tropical foodie’s paradise. Experience for yourself with Trouvaille’s immersion into three of the islands: Rarotonga, Aitutaki, and Atiu.

Bathe in Nature’s Purity

We commence our time together on Rarotonga, the largest island and home to our luxury vacation villas. Our first full day, the Storytellers Eco Cycling Tours provide quality, comfortable bicycles, and routes adjusted for ability level. Storytellers who love sharing their Polynesian heritage guide us through the sights for a unique cycling experience and the best way to get to know the island. We’ll have time later in the visit to freely explore.

Surrounded by a topaz-tinted lagoon fringed with coral reef, Rarotonga is legendary for its swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving. Our second day is devoted to the ocean. Even a total novice can opt to scuba dive. Adventure Cook Islands provides experienced PADI Divemasters and dive instructors who guide you through the process. Otherwise, keep it simple with swimming, snorkeling, or walking along the pristine coastline.

As exquisite the experience of Rarotonga, there are other islands to explore! Our Aituaki day trip includes an outer reef snorkeling cruise. Sail through a vast, luminous lagoon encircled by small, sandy islets and coral reefs. Swim or snorkel in the tropical waters. Lunch is barbeque cooked right on board.

In addition to the guidance of your expert host, this immersive travel experience includes double occupancy accommodations in an island villa, comprehensive transportation around all islands, all tours, all breakfasts, arrival and departure dinners, travel insurance, and our signature 24/7 customer support.

Unforgettable Luxury Vacation

The third island, Atiu, stands out for its untouched tropical rain forest and the extensive, natural Bird Caves. Over centuries, fresh water flowing off volcanic soil excavated towering caves in the coral limestone. The tiny Kopeka Birds living in the caves are unique to this small island. Magnificent stalactites reach to the floor and stalagmites sparkle in the light. There are even water caves with natural pools for swimming, and unique flora and fauna to see on the island.

Following our day trip to Atiu, we have two full days to relax on Rarotonga and luxuriate in the beauty of both land and sea. These are some of the experiences on our eight-day Cook Islands adventure. You can review each day with our detailed itinerary. Book now to guarantee your place.

After the bike tour, enjoy a delicious local lunch.

In the afternoon, enjoy some leisure time walking around the main city of Avarua where we will explore shops, markets, and museums!

October 11:

Today is devoted nature! We are partnering with Adventure Cook Islands to offer you a choice of two activities for the day. If you’re a water lover, go snorkeling along the world-renowned reefs and explore fishes of every type or take an introductory scuba dive to experience the real underwater world offshore.

If you want some Polynesian culture, go ahead and partake in Dance & Drum Lessons. Love hiking? Then go on the Raemaru Mountain Trek where you’ll hike the jungles of Rarotonga, climb to some of the highest spots on the island, and explore ancient villages. Whatever you choose, it’s going to be the experience of a lifetime!

October 12:

Spend a full day on the Aitutaki Day Tour. Take a short 45- minute flight to the island of Aitutaki and experience the uniqueness and beauty of this island atoll. We’ll truck around to see the life and vegetation, as well as the local culture, and go on a Vaka Cruise to swim and snorkel in the island’s lagoons and islets.

Aitutaki is a bucket list destination because of the beauty of its lagoons and shallow waters. In between snorkeling and swimming, we’ll enjoy a barbecue lunch, and roam around the entire island. We return to Rarotonga for dinner and to enjoy the evening.

October 13:

Time to slow down and relax, so, today is your day to explore Rarotonga on your own. Go swimming, lounge on the beach outside the hotel, take a trek into Avarua, attend another tour, sample the local cuisine, and more! Your Trouvaille host will be available to assist you with local transportation and anything else you’ll need on this day.

If you want a classic beach lunch shack experience, we recommend taking a trek to Charlie’s. Classic beach vibe with great food, large servings, and excellent service!

October 14:

Today’s the day when we visit the third island, Atiu, on our Cook Islands adventure. Another short flight in the morning to this island, the group will explore the Kopeka Bird Caves that are amazing limestone caves on the island inhabited by the local Kopeka bird and other flora and fauna. The tour includes a light meal and you’ll even get the chance to have an amazing swim in an underground pool!

In the afternoon, we’ll attend the Atiu Coffee Tour and learn about the local coffee production methods. Don’t worry, you’ll get to sample the coffee, too! Our day will conclude with the flight back to Rarotonga and another wonderful evening dinner.

October 15:

After breakfast, we’ll get back on the water and enjoy a semi-private reef snorkel tour. This tour is limited to six people only, so there will be a morning tour and an afternoon tour (if needed). The group will be picked by the tour operator, taken to Titikaveka Beach, and you’ll set sail to a variety of snorkeling spots around the island. One stop will be at Wreck of the Matai.

This snorkeling tour will take about three hours, snorkeling equipment will be provided, fruit and drinks will be provided, as will some amazing underwater photography.

October 16:

Time to slow down again and relax, so, today is your day to explore Rarotonga on your own. Go swimming, lounge on the beach outside the hotel, take a trek into Avarua, attend another tour, sample the local cuisine, and more! Your Trouvaille host will be available to assist you with local transportation and anything else you’ll need on this day.

If you want a luxury dining experience on Rarotonga, then we recommend the On the Beach (OTB) Restaurant & Bar Arorangi. One of the best fine dining restaurants on the island, get ready for a feast and sample iti maka, a wonderful local ceviche dish, grilled Mahi Mahi, Oven Roasted Rack of Lamb, and many more options!

October 17:

It’s time to head for home, although you might not want to leave! We’ll make sure you arrive at the Rarotonga International Airport in plenty of time for your flight, make sure you are sent off with a smile, and we’ll check on you when you get home.
