Caribbean destinations call to mind lush tropical resorts, bright, colorful skylines, and white-sand beaches. Saint Lucia delivers, adding rainforest, waterfalls, and a drive-in volcano with mud baths, but this island is more than just a tranquil vacation spot to explore and rejuvenate. Saint Lucia has historic importance, as for almost two hundred years France and England battled to possess her.
Around 77 percent of Saint Lucia is forest. To the south, emerge two lush peaks called the Pitons, where hiking opportunities abound. Trouvaille’s nine-day Saint Lucia tour, designed for the active traveler, includes two hikes of two to four and a half hours each. Stroll through tropical landscapes, scenic forest and cloud forest, rich with colorful tropical birds and waterfalls. Another day, visit the Diamond Waterfall and Botanical Gardens, where rainwater mixed with volcanism form the Caribbean’s most colorful waterfall.
Hikes make travelers hungry, and Saint Lucia provides abundant and delicious food. Choose among French-creole, Cajun, and Caribbean cuisine, farm-to-table dishes, fresh seafood, and much more.
Sea Life Up Close, Snorkel a Coral Reef in Shallow Water
After a few days exploring Soufriere and the Pitons, we venture towards Rodney Bay. Home of some of the island’s most popular hotels, Rodney Bay is a bustling town known for outdoor dining, exciting nightlife, and spectacular snorkeling at the shallow reefs of Anise Piton. Brightly colored buildings dot the landscape, framed by the sunlit greens of the tropical island. Shimmering blue water traces long sandy beaches in elegant curves.
Saint Lucia is the only country worldwide named for a real historical woman, a virgin saint known for her generosity. The island’s people uphold her spirit with a reputation for warmth and charm.
Our Saint Lucia tour includes all accommodations and transport on the island, welcome gifts, travel insurance, all breakfasts, all admission and entrance fees, dinner on day one and day eight, and the expert guidance of your Trouvaille host. Airfare to Saint Lucia, alcoholic beverages, and gratuities are not included.

Surrounded by seascapes and a showcase for wildlife, Pigeon Island National Landmark retraces the many historical legends of Saint Lucia. Explore the ruins of Fort Rodney with a panoramic view at the top, relax on the soft sand and enjoy a swim, or visit a legendary Pirate’s cave. Once at the residence, you’ll settle in, enjoy a group dinner, receive your welcome gifts, and soak in that tropical air!
Our exploration today begins at 9 a.m. with a visit to the Caribbean’s only drive-in volcano and mud baths. Visit the interpretive center, learn about the area’s geology, and witness the ongoing geothermal activity and hot springs! You’ll also get to take a cooling mud bath followed by a short hike to a scenic waterfall. The Caribbean is the site of island arc volcanism and you’ll get to see the dynamic Earth up-close and personal.
This exploration of the volcanism of the island will be followed by an estate tour at Morne Coubaril Historical Adventure Park. You’ll be hungry! So, in true Caribbean spirit, feast on an authentic, local Creole buffet lunch, along with opportunities for horseback riding and zip lining. Choose your adventure and explore. We’ll wrap up the day with a fabulous dinner and relaxation at our residence.
We begin the day with an early morning hike into the Edmund rainforest culminating in a refreshing bath in the EnBas Saut Waterfall. This is a 4-5 hour-long hike, so bring good hiking shoes and water. After our scenic trek, we enjoy a well-deserved meal at one of the authentic St. Lucian Restaurants within the town of Soufriere. Some of the culinary options include The Mango Tree, Humming Bird, Bamboo Restaurant, and more!
On our last day in the Soufriere area, we start out with a visit to the Diamond Waterfalls and Botanical Gardens, followed by transit to our new residence on the north end of the island. Along the way, we visit two fishing villages and bear witness to the way-of-life in this fishing community and the unique architecture they employ. On top of that, we stop for a distillery tour and can sample the local rum and spirits. We stay this evening at one of the Bay Garden resorts in Rodney Bay.
Today, we explore the relics from St. Lucia’s past. Explore architecture built by British soldiers in the 1800’s at Morne Fortune, Vigie, and Pigeon Island. Then, we visit the Castries craft market where we will have the opportunity to purchase local arts and craft. After that, enjoy a formal tour and hike up Fort Rodney at Pigeon Island National Park (a historical reserve that was once a separate island until a causeway was built to it.). While at Pigeon island, enjoy lunch and the white sand beach on the west side of this island where there will be opportunities to snorkel and scuba dive. The day will conclude with the opportunity for you to explore more of the restaurants in Rodney Bay.
Today is nature exploration at its best! We’ll have another early start today because we hop on for a boat ride down the west coast of St. Lucia to the base of Gros-Piton. These pitons are volcanic plugs (Gros-Piton and Petit-Piton) that is recognized as a World Heritage Site. Gros-Piton is a respectable 771 meters tall, so it’s only a moderately difficult hike, but one that most people can do with no problems.
This two-hour hike to the summit opens up a wonderful view of the southwestern and central ridge of the island. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy a well-deserved lunch after another fabulous hike and have the chance to go snorkeling in the same area. We’ll then ride back to Rodney Bay for dinner at a restaurant such as La Terrasse.
Today, we will focus on exploring the east side of the island! We’ll travel along winding roads and hike through another rainforest to gaze at truly panoramic views of the island’s central ridge and the area’s amazing assortment of birds. The next stop will be to Foux Dor Heritage Park to ‘get our history on’ with a tour of the plantation and water mill. Finally, we visit Latille Waterfall and wind our way back to Rodney Bay for dinner and to relax.
Everyone enjoys a day on their own to get in some beach time, explore local markets in Rodney Bay, swim, snorkel, scuba, and just … relax! We reconvene in the evening for a departure dinner, talk about our day, and share our St. Lucia experiences of the past week.
After breakfast, we will provide transportation to Hewanorra International Airport to begin the trip home.
