Enjoy a Sumptuous Weekend in Napa Valley

Fine wine in elegant settings, a romantic bed and breakfast, and stunning valley views describe Trouvaille’s special weekend in Napa, California. Take in the landscape from a restored, vintage train riding on a 150-year-old railway, as they serve a three-hour fresh, local dining experience, which includes a chance to meet the chef.

For an even more expansive view, Sunday morning begins with a sixty-minute hot air balloon ride, followed by champagne brunch. In the air, see from the wineries of Napa all the way to San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge.

All-Inclusive Winery Tours

In Napa, they call wine “bottled poetry.” We give this “poetry” a chance to speak to us with two in-depth winery tours and tastings. Scenic views of the grounds from an aerial tram ride start our visit to Sterling Vineyards. Luxury and education meet at the winery, where we experience four small-production wine reserves and their strategically paired amuse-bouches.

Built in 1888 with a clever stone construction, the Chateau Montelena Winery resembles a moss-covered Gothic castle. Nestled at the base of Mount Saint Helena, the grounds include a lake and gardens. Our tasting includes time to stroll through and enjoy the landscape. In 1976, this winery brought Napa into worldwide esteem. Until that time, French wine was the undisputed world best. At a blind tasting in France with French judges, the 1973 Chardonnay from Chateau Montelena took first prize.

Your hosts for this experience are Paul Hardersen and Sarah Nolan-Hardersen. The trip is almost all-inclusive, with double-occupancy accommodations, a welcome package, breakfasts, and dinners, winery tours and tastings, a hot air balloon ride with champagne brunch, the Napa Valley Wine Train, transportation during the weekend, and airport transfers from Sacramento included. Airfare is not included.

Daily itinerary

Friday:

Arrivals, transfers from Sacramento International Airport (SMF) to Candlelight Inn, followed by an evening reception in the courtyard at Candlelight Inn. Guests receive a wine-centric welcome gift set upon their arrival, meet each other, enjoy appetizers, wine, and good conversation.

Saturday:

We begin the day with Candlelight Inn’s delicious three-course breakfast, followed by a ride to Sterling Vineyards for the Platinum Experience wine tour and tasting. The Platinum Experience includes an elegant tasting that pairs tapas with specific uncommon wines, as well as descriptions of the wines and their vintages. We also meet the head chef and learn about the choice of pairings.

This is followed by a self-guided tour of the winery to see the wine-making process, sample more wines, and tour the facilities. Afterward, we drive to downtown Napa to explore the downtown area, shops, wine tasting rooms, museums, and art galleries. The weather is beautiful this time of year. The next stop after a short break at the Inn is to return downtown to board the Napa Valley Wine Train for a three-hour dinner experience on a classically restored train. This is old-time luxury dining at its best!

Sunday:

We rise early to get ready for our hot air balloon ride courtesy of Balloons Above the Valley.  It’s worth the effort as we’ll enjoy a thrilling 60-90 minute balloon ride above Napa Valley replete with views of the valley, Sonoma, San Francisco, and the Golden Gate Bridge. We return to a champagne brunch where you enjoy a gourmet breakfast, champagne, and the option to purchase a photo of your ballooning experience. If you’ve never been on a hot air balloon, you need to do this!

Afterward, we have more time to stroll around downtown Napa before we zoom over to Chateau Montelena for another wine tasting experience. Stroll around the winery and beautiful, wooded area with a scenic lake. We then return to the Inn, rest and refresh, and depart for a fine dinner at an area restaurant, such as Basalt.

Monday:

We will share our final breakfast together at the Inn, followed by transfers to the airport for departures. Our hosts will be available for all post-trip travel assistance.
